Lady Longhorns Capture GHSA AAAAAAA State Championship

Lambert  Lady Longhorns captured the 6th GHSA Girls Golf State Championship in Program History on Tuesday at the Chimney Oaks GC in Homer, GA.  Lambert shot a very good score of 231 on the first day of competition led by Averi Cline with a 74, Rachel Burrell 77, and an 80 by Morgan Boutwell.  This put Lambert in front of Mill Creek by just 2 shots heading into the final round.  On Tuesday, the course conditions toughened up causing nerves to be heightened as a State Title was on the line.  The girls did a phenomenal job of perservering through holes 1-6, which was the toughest stretch on the course.  After the 6th hole, the course opened up and Lambert benefitted from some opportunities at birdies.  On the back nine, the team really excelled and played its best golf of the entire season.  We finished with Rachel Burrell shooting a career low 71 (1 under par) and she finished as the 2nd place individual.  Averi Cline shot a 73 and finished as the Overall Low Medalist and Individual State Champion!!!  Iris Cao shot a solid 77 to help the Lady Longhorns complete an amazing round of 221, the best score in the past few years and 2nd best in a State Championship Round.  Congratulations to the Lady Longhorns and special thanks to Senior Morgan Boutwell for being a great leader for our team and going out a Champion!!
